The page of diagrams showing how to construct a model Roman warship has been on this site for many months. Now at last I add an English version of the instructions, which were originally in Latin.

I have also broken up the page into smaller sections, with a few diagrams on each.

Using these diagrams carefully, a clever boy or girl can make a model Roman warship (navis longa) without too much difficulty.

Our advice is to make your model twice the size of our diagrams, i.e. to the scale of the cross-sections i-iii.
