Building on their successful schedule of storyteller Eddie Lenihan last
year, The Watershed Partnership have recorded a series of 'Telling the
World' for Radio 4. Every day from Monday 12th to Friday 16th at 3.30pm
one of five tellers will be broadcast. Here's the schedule:
Monday 12th November Nick Hennessey "The Girl who Fell"
Nick tells the creation story from the Karelian epic The Kalevala, an
ancient myth from the Finno-Ugric people of the Baltic. It starts at
the very beginning, with the ocean and the wind.
Tuesday 13th November Pete Chand "Lord Shiva and the Death Boon"
Peter tells his version of a story from the Punjab via Wolverhampton.
Wednesday 14th November Daniel Morden "Baucis and Philemon"
Daniel tells one of Ovid's timeless tales of transformation, drawing on
classical mythology to illustrate the power of enduring love.
Thursday 15th November Hugh Lupton "The Glamoury Ointment"
Hugh tells a story from English folklore featuring the powerful magic
of the fair folk.
Friday 16th November Jan Blake "Tortoise and the Hunter"
Jan tells a tale from Ghana which serves as an uncompromising warning
to those who refuse to hear what their ears are telling them.
So tune in to hear the stories, or go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4 to listen
again. And don't forget that if you enjoyed them, then you can always
request that they be mentioned on Pick of the Week !!
Many thanks.Daniel
