Stand-up comedy is enjoying a bit of a golden age at the moment, so you may well want to make the most of Alex Horne's tour, which his publicity person told me about in an email today:
I would like to send you information about comedian Alex Horne who is embarking on a UK tour of Roman Towns with his show 'When in Rome'
‘When in Rome’ follows on from Alex’s success of his previous two pioneering and semi-educational comedy shows, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where his show sold out for the entire 4-week run, garnered rave reviews and then went on to completely sell out his London West End run as well. ‘
Alex has a very clever and hilarious idea on how to keep his beloved Latin in vogue. Taking the opportunity to not only show off his Classics degree, but being a bit of a smart arse, the show will be customised for each town, bringing information on the Roman influence in each place.
Alex performed his show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2005 and has already influenced one young man to choose to take Latin GCSE! I'd like to send you the information about the show and the dates and venues that Alex will be performing as I think your association would really enjoy seeing the show and maybe even taking along some of their students.
I remember seeing good reviews of the Edinburgh Fringe performance last summer. I shall pass on further details when Natalie Biggs of the interestingly named Duff Publicity sends them.
