A message from the Manchester branch of the CA:

Here are the two dates of our schools’ events for next year:

Wednesday 6 February 2008: AS and A2 Latin Texts Half-Day at the University of Manchester, from 2.00 p.m.

Wednesday 12 March 2008: Annual Latin and Greek Reading Competition at The Queen’s School, Chester, starting at 1.30 p.m.

If you would like to be sent further details of either or both of these events, please let me know as soon as possible. Please make sure that I have the correct email address for you and your department. We are keen to assess possible interest in the reading competition, according to the categories – Latin (beginners, GCSE, Advanced) and Greek (GCSE, Advanced); any comment about this would be very useful.

Communications about the Latin texts event will be sent by email from the Department of Classics and Ancient History of the University of Manchester.

If you request details of the Reading Competition, these will arrive by post as hard-copy by the middle of January. There will be an application form to be completed and returned by post to Lindsay Griffiths at The Queen’s School, Chester. All other communications will be by email.

My job is to co-ordinate schools’ events and to communicate with schools on any issues that may be of interest. I am also happy to receive communications, if you think there is anything that we can do for you. If you would like to receive a copy of our programme of lectures for 2007 -2008, I can forward your request to our honorary secretary. We are always pleased to welcome new members or an individual visitor for a particular lecture.

Yours sincerely
